Hydrotherapy
We offer 1:1 or group hydrotherapy for patients with various chronic conditions, disabilities, and abilities. An assessment, either in-clinic or at the pool, is required to review medical history, therapy goals, and mobility before starting.
Home Visits
Our Exercise Physiology in Adelaide team offers home visits within the local community, lasting 30, 45 minutes, or 1 hour. An initial assessment, either at home or in the clinic, is required before starting home visits.
Sessions can be scheduled weekly or fortnightly, depending on the Exercise Physiologist in Adelaide’s clinical assessment. Equipment may be provided or used from the patient’s home during sessions.
All Access Workouts
Empower Gym proudly offers HUR wheelchair-accessible equipment, designed for inclusive and effective workouts for all users. HUR equipment uses advanced pneumatic (air resistance) technology that mimics natural muscle movement, providing a joint-friendly, efficient experience. This technology adapts muscle loading to each user’s fitness level, promoting safe and effective training.
Our wheelchair-accessible equipment includes a zero-start load, perfect for beginners and those in rehab therapy. Touchscreen programs and automatic adjustments enable seamless, independent workouts, giving clients more control and reducing staff involvement. This setup ensures a welcoming environment for all fitness levels.
FAQ’s
What is the difference between an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) and a Personal Trainer?
AEPs (Accredited Exercise Physiologists) are experts in exercise and health, with university qualifications in assessment and prescription.
Whether recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or improving overall health, AEPs can help. They focus on both exercise science and lifestyle changes to reach your fitness goals.
For optimal health, an AEP at Empower Gym is your best choice!
What happens during my first appointment?
At your first appointment at Empower Gym, we’ll start with a thorough check-up. We’ll review your medical history, activity levels, physical limitations, fitness goals, and lifestyle. Basic fitness testing will also be done to assess your starting point.
Our Exercise Physiologist in Adelaide will then work with you to create a customised plan tailored to your needs.
What should I bring to my first appointment? What should I wear to my appointment?
For your first appointment at Empower Gym, wear comfy clothes and footwear suitable for light exercise. Bring a water bottle and gym towel to all sessions. If possible, bring details of any medical conditions, medications, test results, or scans.
If you have exercise-induced asthma, bring your puffer, or if diabetic, bring sugary snacks or drinks. This information helps our Exercise Physiologists in Adelaide tailor your plan.
What happens during my second and subsequent appointments?
For follow-up appointments at Empower Gym, the process depends on whether you’re doing 1:1 treatments or group classes.
If continuing 1:1 treatments, we’ll check your progress, complete exercises, and work toward your goals. Your plan may include face-to-face appointments, home or gym workouts, or occasional check-ins.
For group classes, our Exercise Physiologists in Adelaide may start with 1-2 one-on-one sessions to help transition you smoothly. If you’re an experienced gym-goer, this may not be necessary.
We review your progress every 3-6 months to reassess goals and ensure the program is effective.
Can I claim exercise physiology on private health insurance or Medicare?
At Empower Gym, Exercise Physiology in Adelaide is often covered by major private health funds under ‘extras’ cover. The amount you can claim depends on your level of cover, and there are annual limits. It’s best to check with your health fund for details.
If referred by your GP through the Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Program, you can claim part of your fees. The program covers up to 5 visits per year. For diabetes patients, a CDM referral covers one 1:1 assessment and up to 8 group class visits annually.
Do you accept RTWSA and DVA referrals?
We can help with that! To use RTWSA for exercise physiology at Empower Gym, bring your claim number, insurance details, and case manager’s contact info.
For DVA clients, bring a valid GP referral for exercise physiology in Adelaide services. We’ll ensure everything is set up smoothly for you!
